Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names such as: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit while they transport cargo. The Rider model however, uses a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and move tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider can be the perfect answer if you are looking for a cheap method for moving loads from one place to another. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best option.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece equipment designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Usually, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle which can work in smaller aisles. They are extremely useful pieces of machinery in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
