To give you an idea of the cost, a Nissan Propane Forklift dating from the late 1990s would run you approximately $11,000 to $14,000. More than likely, you would be able to find a unit such as this with fewer than 5,000 operating hours, approximately 15 feet of lifting capacity and cushion tires. However, a second-hand Nissan forklift truck that has less than 5,000 hours could be found for under $7,000. This option might be a little bit of an older unit than some others, but remember; everything revolves around the operating hours. A model such as this would probably have a pretty good load capacity of approximately 5,000 lbs.
Newer Nissan forklifts from the year 2005 to the current year, could be found priced near $10,000. Typically, these models would have a standard lift capacity ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds. Normally, a model like this would run smoothly and have cushion tires. Of course, newer models usually work smoother compared to older ones.
Types of Forklifts
The forklift is normally categorized in 2 different manners: by the structure of the forklift and the kind of fuel it takes. Based on structure, the following types of lift trucks are among the most common:
Standard Forklift: Standard forklifts comprise the familiar warehouse lift truck. These types of lift trucks offer a lifting capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 lbs. They have a height capacity of approximately 20 feet.
Reach Forklift: The narrow aisle forklift and reach forklift are the kind of forklifts found in warehouses and distribution centers that have limited storage space. Narrow construction means that it is not able to carry as much as a standard forklift unit, although, it has an extendable mast which could easily lift loads approximately 40 feet.
Telescopic Forklift: The telescopic lift truck is also known as a telehandler, or an extendable reach forklifts or sometimes even a telescopic handler. These equipment are more rugged and more heavy duty compared to the traditional forklift. These units provide a telescopic boom that could be extended out and raised up. Usually, these models are used on rough terrain. They can can transport loads weighing more than 30,000 lbs and are able to handle loads up to 70 feet high
Straight Mast Forklift: Straight mast lift trucks are also usually used in rough terrain applications. These kinds of lift trucks could only transport loads vertically, not like a telescopic unit. These models could reach a height of 10 to 30 feet, while raising loads up to 12,000 lbs.
