A type of machine in the material handling business that could be used to raise and transport loads from one place to another is called a forklift. Every part of a forklift has a particular function. Various parts could be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The parts used to lower and lift the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are different types of masts used for raising loads to different heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Situated in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located inside the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the largest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are located at the back so as to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
