Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This version has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
